Tears to my eyes!

Wow, one of the 2 best voices so far this season.

I am so proud of this young lady. I am in my 50's and also have bipolar disorder. I have had it my whole life, and it took me a long time to deal with the reality of what I had. People put a crazy label on you when they find out. But really it is a chemical imbalance in your brain. It is very treatable with meds, and the other most important part of treatment is therapy. You have to come to grips that you have, but it is totally in your control to help yourself. You have it and will always have it. People have no idea what it is like until they have it. The other part we all have to remember who have it. The realty of it is, the people close to you in your life they have to deal with us. I am blessed and had great support, and a husband who was honest with me. He took it in his hands and made me get help. It effects their lives also.

It is so nice to see someone so young be a good positive role model. This should show others you can be successful and have bipolar. And like she mentioned, stay on your meds. My concern is for those who have no health care, and cant be on medication. Some people do not like to take their meds, they love the manic part of the disorder. Or feel so lost, they feel like why should I do anything. And I have totally been there. I played with my meds for years, and felt like I am ok and would not take them. Always resulting in a crash.

But it is just as if you were a diabetic, you have to do maintenance. This is 100% your responciablity, and you owe it to yourself. Life can be full of love, fun and excitement once you allow yourself. But this can end your life if you let it. Do not be ashamed that you have it. This is not your fault, it is a med condition.
