We said goodbye to Janell, Ashley, Joe, and Tyler. Only 20 contestants are left. Who will be going home next? The Top 24 performed together as a group for the first, and last, time.
The Top 24 performed together for the first and last time with Estelle's "American Boy." It was fun to see who can dance and who can't. And it wouldn't be an American Idol group performance without ending it with a fist pump. Janell Wheeler was teary-eyed but remained composed and as cheerful as always. Janell Wheeler sang on the Idol stage for one last time. Janell Wheeler sang "What About Now" by Heart. Janell Wheeler was a good sport and hugged Katie Stevens goodbye.
Ryan said, "Dim the lights," and as fast as the lights dimmed, my stomach dropped. It doesn't take much for me to get totally invested in a new season! Siobhan Magnus, Haeley Vaughn, Michelle Delamor, and Katelyn Epperly were safe, and the person going home would either be Katie Stevens or Janell Wheeler. Ultimately, Janell was sent home, but her version of "What About Now" was even better than her last performance. The Top 12 girls were the lucky ones kicking off the first live show of the season. You can physically see them shaking in their boots, or platform Mary Janes in the case of Siobhan Magnus. Hey, did you know Simon Cowell has the hots for Ellen DeGeneres? Yeah?neither did I. Janell Wheeler sang her "Heart" out. Janell looked into the camera as she sang for America. Janell took in the judges feedback with a smile.
Janell Wheeler grabbed the microphone and sang Heart's "What About Now." Wine Sales Rep Janell Wheeler sang Heart's "What About Love," which is a great song, but it's not a great song for Janell. She's more of a creative, guitar playing contestant than a belting diva. Although it would be nice to see all of the girls stick around for another week and see how they do when they're less nervous, it's more dramatic to watch their nerves escalate as two girls go home on Thursday. The Idols enjoyed food and fun, and the girls gathered around John Park. Katie Stevens, Janell Wheeler, and Todrick Hall were having a good time.

The Top 12 girls gathered for a group photo on the red carpet.
