Danny Gokey gave Kris Allen a fist bump before taking the stage with Allison, Alexis, Michael, and the rest of the Top 13. Alexis Grace was happy to be back on the Idol stage. The top girls showed off their vocals and some smooth choreography. The last group performance of Season 8 was a great one. The glamorous Top 5 girls sang Fergie's "Glamorous." For the last performance of the night, Adam Lambert and Kris Allen joined Queen on stage to sing "We are the Champions." The rest of the Top 13 joined the group on stage.
Carlos Santana performed a few songs with the Top 13. The next collaboration of the night was Alexis Grace and Anoop Desai with Jason Mraz, performing Mraz's "I'm Yours." Earlier this season, Randy Jackson compared Kris Allen to Jason Mraz, and this performance proved that's a good thing. The Top 13 reunited to sing "So What" by Pink. It was great to see everyone back on the Idol stage. With Memorial Day right around the corner, the Idols looked confident wearing white just a few days early. The Top 13's performance ended with a bang. The first musical performance reunited the Top 13 for Pink's "So What," and the top girls glided down the stairs with ease.
The Top 13 were back together again on the Idol stage. The rest of the Top 13 rooted on the final 3 from the audience. The Top 13 supported Adam and Kris from the front rows of the Nokia Theater. A colorful Alexis Grace and Megan Joy smiled in the audience. Jason Castro and Alexis Grace watched the show from the audience.
The staff assisted Alexis Grace before the show. Alexis, Matt, Kris, Anoop, Lil, and Debra Byrd sit around a small table before the show. Alexis Grace looked ready to perform. The weight of her final performance of "Jolene" seemed to weigh on Alexis Grace's shoulders. After the duet, Ryan asked Simon whether he thought they might use a save tonight on either Michael or Alexis, and Simon said that they were thinking of possibly using it on one of them, but he didn't name that person right away. After Alexis Grace found out it was the end of the road for her, Simon admitted that it was her they were thinking of for the "Judges' Save," and that it would all come down to her final performance of "Jolene".
After an intense last performance for Alexis Grace, Simon told her that it was good but not good enough, and we'd have to say goodbye to Alexis Grace. We took one last look back at her emotional journey while on the show as her friends and fellow hopefuls gathered around her. Simon spoke with Alexis Grace after her elimination as a visibly sad Megan Joy looked on. Despite calling her "Allison" earlier in the night, Randy comforted Alexis Grace after she was eliminated. Ryan asked the judges whether they would use one of their saves this week for Alexis Grace or Michael Sarver, and Simon said they'd consider it for one. Alexis Grace and Michael Sarver looked understandably nervous as they awaited news of which one of them would be going home.
Michael Sarver was visibly relieved as he learned he was safe, which meant Alexis Grace would be going home unless the judges "saved" her. Michael Sarver gave Alexis Grace a bear hug after she learned that she could very well be going home. Allison Iraheta was immediately sent back to safety, leaving Alexis Grace and Michael Sarver. They would have to wait to find out their fates, of course, until after the break. Alexis Grace hugged Allison Iraheta as Michael Sarver looked on after Allison found out she was safe. Megan Joy and Matt Giraud were both told they were safe as well, which left Alexis Grace and Adam Lambert.
Ryan asked Simon to weigh in on Adam's performance, and whether he still thought it was bad after watching the show again last night. Not one to mince words, Simon said it was even worse the second time, and he called it complete "rubbish!" Luckily for Adam, America disagreed and Alexis Grace was the one asked to take the last stool in the Bottom 3. After seeing a clip of Jorge Nunez and Jasmine Murray's emotional goodbye dinner, Ryan checked in with the hopefuls to see how they were feeling. Michael Sarver admitted it's quite hard being without his family, especially having a young daughter who doesn't quite understand the situation. Ryan gave him the opportunity to tell McKenna how much he loves her, which caused Megan Joy to cry! The Top 11 got together for a big ending to their rousing group performance of "Trouble". The Top 11 showed a lot of personality! The contestants were feeling good even though one would be leaving within the hour.
Lil Rounds, Megan Joy, Allison Iraheta, and Alexis Grace gave the audience a thrill as they climbed a podium to perform in front of them. Ryan announced that an amazing 31 million votes had been received for the results show just before the Top 11 did their group performance to "Trouble". Megan Corkrey, Lil Rounds, Alexis Grace, and Allison Iraheta "hammed it up" in front of the judges for their group performance of "Trouble"! Alexis Grace was glamorous in her red dress. Amazing Grace! Alexis stunned with her new shorter hair 'do at the photo shoot.
Alexis Grace has found "the dirty" that the judges were seeking from her in recent weeks, but last night's performance was missing that in their eyes. She took on Dolly Parton's "Jolene," and, although Paula liked her more vulnerable side, the other judges thought it was only fair. Kara said, "I think you lost your edge a bit." The judges longed for the edgy Alexis Grace of weeks past after she took on Dolly Parton's "Jolene". Alexis Grace looked tiny on the imposing Idol stage as she performed a heartfelt version of "Jolene". The judges liked Alexis Grace's rendition of "Jolene," but they like her "edgier" side better. Alexis Grace showed a different side of her vocals while singing "Jolene."
The night ahead was to be songs from the Grand Ole Opry. Ryan joked with Simon that he and Country music have a "special relationship." Simon said he wishes they could have a whole week of Country music, with his tongue firmly planted in his cheek, of course. Before the performances began, the Top 11 were shown meeting with their mentor for the week, Randy Travis. Alexis Grace chose to sing a song by one of her own Idols, Dolly Parton's "Jolene". Alexis, Adam, and Matt looked ready to rock. Adam and Alexis pal around. Matt Giraud and Alexis Grace look through a scrapbook.
The Top 13 looked amazing backstage before Michael Jackson night. Alexis, Jasmine, Adam, Jorge, Matt, Kris, and Allison gather round for a photo. Alexis Grace stood as she found out that she made it through to the next round. After Kanye's performance, it was back to the business of results. Scott MacIntyre, Alexis Grace, and Danny Gokey immediately found out they were safe. Danny Gokey laughed as his fellow hopefuls congratulated him on making it through.
Allison Iraheta was definitely relieved after finding out the good news that she made it through. With two live performances by Kanye and Kelly lying ahead, it was right down to the business of results. Michael Sarver and Allison Iraheta were immediately told that they were safe. Jasmine Murray, however, was asked to join Ryan at center stage and "hang tight." Matt Giraud was next, and he immediately began walking toward center stage! He had to have been relieved when Ryan told him to sit down, as he was safe. They may be new to performing on this stage, but the contestants looked like pros. The Idols strutted their stuff across the stage.
The Top 13 performed as a group for the first and last time. Both Ryan and Alexis Grace appear stunned by the feedback on her song. Alexis Grace took in the applause at the conclusion of her stellar rendition of "Dirty Diana". Alexis Grace had a rock star look going for her performance of Michael Jackson's "Dirty Diana". The judges have been telling Alexis Grace to "find the dirty," and that's exactly what she did last night with her sultry performance of "Dirty Diana". Kara said "You're a naughty girl and I liked it!" Randy liked the attitude, and Paula liked it, but warned her against over singing. Simon wasn't quite as on board with it as the others, telling her it "probably wasn't as good as you thought it was." Ouch!

Despite heartbreak on the part of some of Group 1, everyone smiled and waved to the cameras at the conclusion of the results show. Paula Abdul took the opportunity to congratulate Alexis Grace on making it into the Top 12 after the show. Alexis Grace and Michael Sarver were captured looking quite happy to be sitting in the Top 12 stools.
Alexis Grace's Group 1 peers were so happy for her after hearing she made it into the Top 12. Alexis Grace performed her Aretha song for us one more time, and it was just as soulful as when we first heard it. Alexis Grace was so happy after her performance, she lost her hat! There were some fun interactions between Danny Gokey and Stevie Wright, and Ricky Braddy and Alexis Grace, during the performance. Casey Carlson took the opportunity to comfort her fellow group member, Stephen Fowler.
