Jennifer Lopez's "First Love" performance blew the roof off the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

For the first time in IDOL history our judges got together to perform a spectacular medley!

Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr. performed a mash-up of Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors" and Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way."

Jennifer Lopez performed her new song "First Love" at the IDOL finale.

The contestants crowded around Dexter in a show of support after his elimination. Tune in next week as the Top 6 fight to stay alive in the competition!

Dexter held his head high and his voice never wavered during his solid performance of "Lucky Man." Despite his elimination Dexter sure is a "Lucky Man" to have made it this far in the competition.

Caleb, Sam, Jessica and C.J. were then called to the stage to hear their results. Randy thought that C.J. did a "good job," but "wanted more" from his performance. He said it'd be interesting to see how the results panned out for Jessica and praised Sam's growth over the season. Caleb got the most praise from Randy who gave him a solid "A" for his performance.

Sam survived another week as well. His performance of "Sail Away" by David Gray easily earned him a spot in the next round.

That put Jessica Meuse in the bottom two and in danger of elimination.

The Top 7 will definitely become 6 tonight and it's any one's guess after a great performance show from our Idols on Wednesday night.

Caleb was named safe. Looks like Randy's assessment of his performance from the previous night held true and we'll be seeing him next week.

C.J. Harris has been in the bottom before, but not this week! He was the next contestant named safe.

Two out of the three "Alabama Power" contestants were in the bottom 2 this week. Who would survive?

Dexter Roberts took to the stage to perform "Lucky Man" by Montgomery Gentry

Ryan got right to the results naming Jessica Meuse safe for another week and announcing Dexter Roberts as the eliminated contestant.

Jena Irene was the first contestant named safe. With a performance that Harry said was the best of the night her advancement made perfect sense.

Jena Irene, Alex Preston and Dexter Roberts were called to the stage for the results. Randy weighed in on their performances from the previous night. Randy thought Dexter had a "good performance," but needed to "take chances." He thought Alex was "developing into a great artist," and claimed that Jena Irene was the "one to beat" in the competition. What would the results reveal?

Alex Preston was also named safe for the evening. His unique arrangements and vocal stylings earned him another week in the competition.

That put Dexter Roberts in the bottom two. He delivered a solid performance on Wednesday night, but still was in danger of elimination.

This is AMERICAN IDOL® with your host, Kevin Bacon! Wait, what? Looks like The Following star stole Ryan's thunder and opened the Top 7 results show.
