Caleb Johnson and Jena Irene faced off for the final time on Tuesday in an epic battle spanning three impressive rounds. The contestants faced the biggest stakes of the season. How would they measure up?

The three superstars responsible, in part, for their rise to fame, came out on stage to greet a jam-packed house at the Nokia theatre in Los Angeles. Over 7,000 people were in the attendance for the final show-down. The judges weren't phased, but this would be the first time our budding stars would sing in front of such a large live audience.

Before the battle commenced Caleb and Jena took a moment to reflect on the gravity of the moment. "This is absolutely incredible," said Caleb. "I never thought I would be at this stage in the competition," exclaimed Jena.

Simon Fuller chose "Dog Days Are Over" by Florence and the Machine for Jena.

A natural song choice for our eclectic performer, Jena worked and weaved herself around the stage like she wasn't affected at all by the huge crowd in front of her.

"It's electric in here right now," exclaimed Jennifer Lopez noting it can be "overwhelming for a performer." While she noticed Jena's fear in the beginning of the performance she thought it was "a really good start." Keith praised the way Jena handled the stage and Harry thought her effort was "fantastic."

Simon Fuller picked the classic "Dream On" by Aerosmith for Caleb's first performance.

"Dream On" was a perfect song choice for Caleb Johnson. He was up to his normal antics gyrating on stage like a rock god of old. He even got way up into his upper register in a way only former Idol judge Steven Tyler can appreciate.

"That's what you got to do!" Jennifer Lopez said, adding that Caleb should thank Mr. Simon Fuller for such a perfect song choice. Harry thought the performance was "phenomenal," and Keith said Caleb had him from the "opening phrase" of the song.

Before the second round Caleb and Jena poked fun by doing impressions of each other!

Jena chose to reprise her performance of Elvis Presley's "I Can't Help Falling in Love" in the second round.

Jena sang "I Can't Help Falling in Love" seated at the piano. It was an emotional performance for the singer who again connected strongly with Elvis Presley classic.

Harry said Jena gave a "very unique and very special" performance. Keith touted Jena as a leader, trailblazer and pioneer. Jennifer got the goosies and praised Jena's incredible talent.

Caleb Johnson surprised the judges and audience alike when he chose Paul McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed" for his reprisal performance.

He gave a standout performance of the song earlier in the season and chose to show his range with a more emotional effort. This performance was just as emotional for our talented rocker.

After Caleb's performance of "Maybe I'm Amazed" Keith urged him not to "lose what the song is about" by getting caught up in the vocal aspects of the song. Jennifer thought his performance required "more heart," and Harry bemoaned the fate of America by having to choose between our talented Top 2.

Jena Irene took to the stage in the third round to perform what would be her coronation song, an upbeat number called "We Are One."

"We Are One" highlighted all of Jena's strengths and really gave her a moment to shine on the stage. It's all the more amazing when you consider that Jena is the first judges' wild card to make it this far in the competition.

Jennifer thought the song really "suited" Jena and Harry called the performance "strong." Keith "loved it" and thought the single was the "perfect" choice for Jena.

Caleb closed the show performing what would be his coronation song, "As Long As You Love Me."

"As Long As You Love Me" had everything we've come to expect from a Caleb Performance. It had big moments and some emotional places where Caleb could really stand out. This battle really would be too close to call!

Jennifer thought that Caleb left "it all out there" and "sounded good," While both Keith and Harry noted how close the race would be between Caleb and Jena. "You're like Joe Fraiser. Jena is Mohammad Ali," said Harry. "I'm dying to see what happens tomorrow night," exclaimed Keith.

With the ending of Caleb's performance the fate of our final two was firmly put into America's hands. The winner will be revealed Wednesday in a special finale show featuring performances from Demi Lovato, Darius Rucker, Phillip Phillips, John Legend, Paramore and KISS to name just a few!

The Top 13 reunited at the end of the show to perform Kelly Clarkson's hit "Breakaway."

Tune in WEDNESDAY at 8/7c on FOX for the crowning of the NEXT American Idol!
