    Carrie Wraps "Blown Away Tour"

Six-time Grammy winner Carrie Underwood wrapped her international “Blown Away Tour” last week having performed 112 shows in 110 cities before one million fans across three continents and six countries since its launch last spring.

After wrapping her 110-city “Blown Away Tour” in Abbottsford, BC on Thursday night, Carrie made an eager detour before heading home to Nashville. Saturday night she had an opportunity of a lifetime when she was asked to join the Rolling Stones on stage in Toronto as a surprise guest performing "It's Only Rock 'N Roll (But I Like It)."Carrie's headline arena tour played throughout the United States as well as Canada, Ireland, England, Northern Ireland and Australia, boasting mostly sell-outs in 2012 and all sell-outs during the 2013 leg.

Concert review critics praised Carrie throughout the tour's run. “Thousands of fans on their feet throughout the opening number, singing along with every word, clapping their hands to the beat; that's what it looks like when a bona fide star in the prime of her career comes through town,” said the Yakima Herald. The Hamilton Spectator shared, “the highlight of the show was the vocal display she put on for the show's finale, ‘Blown Away.'” “Underwood gave a passionate nearly hour-and-forty minute performance, which kept the sold-out crowd enchanted throughout the evening,” stated the Lansing State Journal and the Charleston Gazette claimed, “her powerhouse vocals, shining stage presence, ostentatious and ever-changing wardrobe and extravagant concert accoutrement kept the audience's attention for the duration of her set, which featured a solid mix of fan favorites both old and new.”

Interesting by the numbers details on Carrie's “Blown Away Tour” include bringing 9 buses and 16 trucks with 89 tour personnel to each city, including support acts, who traveled over 605,000 total miles through the life of the tour. Her state-of-the-art stage production included 575,424 individual LED lights in 3,000 square feet of video walls,23,063 feet of lighting cable (which is 4.36 miles!) with 172 different colors used in the show's lighting. Carrie and her band flew 150 feet above the audience at every show at a speed of .3 feet per second on a B-stage that weighed 5,890 pounds. To create the “Blown Away” tornado at each concert, 450 CO2 tanks and 222 Nitrogen tanks were used. Over 2,600 pounds of confetti were diffused into the air and 408 beach balls were blown up to toss to the fans. Backstage, tour personnel consumed 22,636 bottles of vitaminwater® and smartwater®.

Carrie's two previous headline tours, 2008's “Carnival Ride Tour” and 2010's “Play On Tour,” performed for a combined total of nearly 250 shows with 2.2 million fans in attendance. She wrapped 2008, 2010, and 2012 as the top female country touring artist.

Charitable contributions from tour proceeds were made to the American Red Cross and Canadian Red Cross, as well as local charities in Atlantic City, New Jersey and Des Moines, Iowa.

    Catching Up with Constantine Maroulis

AMERICAN IDOL® star and Tony Award® nominee Constantine Maroulis recently finished headlining a revival of the Broadway hit, Jekyll & Hyde. Constantine joined with multi-platinum recording artist and Grammy® nominee Deborah Cox to inject new life into the classic tale of good and evil.

Broadway Records recently released a new concept recording of Jekyll & Hyde featuring Constantine and his co-star Deborah Cox. Download the amazing recording here. We got the chance to talk with Constantine about his revolutionary role and what's coming up next for him.

Constantine is very excited to share his new recording of Jekyll & Hyde with his fans. “We're really excited about the Jekyll concept album that's available now. Amazing new arrangements and orchestrations of all the classic songs that have become so iconic from the show.”

Constantine loved the opportunity to play the title role in the revived musical. “It's been amazing really. I knew what a mountain it was to climb when I was first approached about it and it's been a tremendous experience. Took it out on the road for about 9 months and took it into New York for a limited engagement. It was a lot of fun, anytime you get the opportunity to create a new role and be a part of something so special, it's awesome.”

Constantine elaborated on the physical and emotional challenges in playing the title role in Jekyll & Hyde. “Physically this has been something that no other actor has been able to do, eight shows a week consistently. Physically I had to get myself in the right shape – get my voice ready to rock. Emotionally, [the role was] a huge investment for a show like this. Really it takes you on a dark journey every night. It's something that doesn't easily leave you.”

Constantine, who said it has always been a dream to perform on Broadway, has had a great run so far. The Season 4 rocker was nominated for a Tony for his role in Rock of Ages, but he doesn't think his career has hit a high point yet. “I've had this great career for over 8 years now. Now, I'm back in the studio working on new music and as a producer of theater now as well. It's been a great time. I've been really blessed,” Constantine confided.

One of the shows in the works for Constantine is his Toxic Avenger show that he was working on before his run in Jekyll & Hyde. “Next for me is getting Toxic Avenger to New York. It's written by David Bryan from Bon Jovi and Joe DiPietro. It's a show that ran off –Broadway and that we took to the Alley Theater, one of the most prestigious theaters in the whole country. We did tremendous work on it last winter. So it's ready to come in. It's just been a scheduling thing. So, I'm looking to champion that coming into Broadway next.”

You can keep up with everything Constantine by following him on twitter @ConstantineM.

Carrie Donates One Million Dollars to the Red Cross

As Carrie Underwood prepares to wrap her 2012-2013 “Blown Away Tour” tonight in Abbottsford, BC, a one million dollar donation is being made to the Red Cross for disaster relief. The charitable contribution to the Red Cross derives from the tour's concert proceeds and was established when it launched in spring 2012.

“I have watched the devastation in my home state of Oklahoma over the past several days with great sadness,” says Carrie. “With the help of my fans who attended my concerts over the past year, we can offer the Red Cross a little extra help in comforting those affected by the recent tornados.”

Carrie's home state of Oklahoma has recently experienced devastating tornados. This contribution to disaster relief will help people affected by disasters like tornados, floods and other crises around the country, including Oklahoma.

"The impact of the tornados in Oklahoma and the Midwest was devastating and the road to recovery will be long for many families. Through the generosity of Carrie, the American Red Cross can quickly respond with shelter, food and comfort now, and with lasting help as they move toward recovery,” said Neal Litvack, chief development officer for the Red Cross.

Earlier in the tour, following a performance in Atlantic City, NJ, Carrie designated funds to support the response and relief efforts in New Jersey in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

Every year, the American Red Cross prepares for and responds to nearly 70,000 disasters across the United States where they provide shelter, food, and emotional support for those in need. Proceeds from her Canadian concerts will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross.

Since releasing her debut album in 2005, Carrie has sold over 15 million albums and placed 17 No. 1 singles on the charts. Her recent album, Blown Away, made history by debuting at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums Chart, making Carrie only the second country artist in the 47-year history of the chart to have each of their first four albums debut at No. 1. The now platinum-selling Blown Away album also debuted at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, making Carrie only the second country artist in history to have three consecutive albums debut at No. 1. She is a six-time Grammy winner, a two-time Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, a three-time Country Music Association and ACM Female Vocalist winner, and a proud member of the Grand Ole Opry.
