During Thursday’s Vegas performance challenge did you notice the creative and cohesive outfits? We saw everything from The Andrews Sisters inspired military look for “Why Do Fools Fall In Love” to The Neapolitans’ hot pink sparkly dresses. There were expensive looking maroon blazers, a gorgeous dress for “Sealed With A Kiss,” and leather jackets and striped shirts on the “Jailhouse Rock” guys.

Many of you have tweeted @IDOL_Insider to ask me if these costumes were provided by the wardrobe department. Shockingly, they weren’t! All of the outfits were assembled by the contestants. Some groups like “Great Balls Of Fire” and “The Night Has A Thousand Eyes” coordinated their colors from stuff they had in their suitcase or stuff they could borrow from other contestants. Then there were groups like the “Stop In The Name Of Love” girls, who went shopping to find identical dresses. And I’m sure you’re wondering about the uniforms worn on the girls who performed “Why Do Fools Fall In Love.” Their parents went shopping at an Army/Navy store in LA shortly after the girls grouped up. Now how did someone like 6’8.5” Jermaine Jones find an outfit in his size? As he rehearsed with partner Richie Law, his relatives—aunt Brenda and cousin Shelly—who live in Vegas, went shopping for a shirt in his size that would match his partner’s.
