Danny Gokey got Married!
Season 8’s third place finalist, Danny Gokey, was married this past Sunday in Florida to fiancé Leyicet Peralta. It was only announced that the two were engaged on Christmas day. Get details about his engagement here.
According to People.com, the couple was wed in an intimate ceremony with a theme of “romance and love” and only had about 100 guests. The couple said, “We wanted a smaller more intimate wedding of just friends and family”. Danny tweeted about his nuptials today: “Best. Wedding. Plank. Ever!!! http://pic.twitter.com/CFaXtXYF”.
This is Danny’s second marriage after tragically losing his first wife, Sophia, in 2008 in a routine surgery to correct her congenital heart disease. Danny formed a children’s charity, Sophia’s Heart, in memory of his late wife. Danny and Leyicet asked for all wedding gifts to be in the form of a donation to the charity.
Danny Gokey’s 2nd Annual Cruise to benefit Sophia’s Heart is coming up as well. It sets sail to Cozumel and Key West with Danny’s fellow Season 8 contestant Matt Giraud as a special guest, from February 2-6.
