The music world lost a legend today with the passing of Etta James. Season after season, contestants list the R&B/Love Song/Blues powerhouse as one of their musical inspirations and dream of singing her hits on the Idol stage.

Many contestants have performed her songs on American Idol, and we even heard it on this week's Savannah audition episode.

Idol Performances:
Kelly Clarkson, Season 1 initial audition, "At Last"
Julia DeMato, Season 2 American Idol 2 Love Songs CD, "At Last"
Jessica Sierra, Season 4 initial audition, "At Last"
Stevie Wright, Season 8 initial audition, "At Last"
Tatiana Nicole Del Toro, Season 8 final audition, "Sunday Kind of Love"
Katie Stevens, Season 9 initial audition, "At Last"
Lauren Turner, Season 10 Final Audition, "Steal Away" & Top 12 Girls, "Seven Day Fool"

Etta as an Inspiration:
In Haley Reinhart's and Jasmine Murray's profile Q&A, they list their dream song to perform as "At Last." Kimberley Locke mentions in her Q&A that the last CD she bought before coming on the show was Etta James' The Chess 50th Anniversary. Etta James is listed as one of Syesha Mercado's, Pia Toscano's and Paige Miles' musical inspirations.

Etta James may be gone, but her music and her legacy will live on.
