Exclusive Interview with Aaron Kelly
Hours before Aaron Kelly took the Staples Center stage with the American Idols LIVE! 2010 Tour, he opened up to AmericanIdol.com about his favorite tour stop, auditions advice, and his future plans.
With only a few weeks left on tour, we wanted to know what Aaron likes about touring and what he’d miss when it’s over. “My favorite part of being on tour is getting to see all the fans that supported us from day one,” Aaron said. “I think what I’m going to miss most is getting to hang out with the contestants. We’ve all become family; we’ve been together so long and it’s going to be sad to break apart.”
Since Aaron is a minor, his amazing mom has come on tour with him and she rides around the nation on the girls’ bus. Aaron shared, “I definitely love my mom and it’s always good to have her there for the support. She has always supported me throughout my whole life and it’s good to have her with me.”
Of all the places the Idol Tour has taken Aaron, he revealed, “My favorite tour stop was Hershey, PA. That was my hometown show and that was my favorite because it was where all the hometown fans and friends and family were. It was so much fun, and that was where they cheered the loudest for me.”
What’s next for the teen from Sonestown, Pennsylvania? He shared some big news, “Once the tour is over I’m moving to Nashville. I’m talking to a record label right now so we’re gonna work on getting some things in the works for me.”
Aaron’s Idol journey started at Disney World’s American Idol Experience. His success at the attraction earned him a pass to the front of the line at Orlando auditions. For the folks auditioning for Season 10, Aaron offered up the following advice. “You want to go in there and you don’t want the judges asking questions like, ‘What kind of artist is he? Where’s he gonna go once the show is over?’ You want to have all the questions answered for them. Go in there and pick a song that represents you well as an artist. Think about what type of song would be on your album after the show so that you have all the questions answered for them. Go in there with your look and everything so that they don’t have to focus on what to do with you – you’re already ready to go.”
Throughout the American Idol journey, Aaron has remained humble and thankful. He stated, “It has been amazing seeing all the fans while we’ve been touring. Thank you to all the fans for your support and keeping a 17-year-old’s dreams alive. I enjoy what I’m doing right now and there’s nothing else I’d rather be doing. I love you so much. Thanks you guys!”
