Season 9’s Siobhan Magnus is currently touring the nation with the Top 10 Idols on the American Idols LIVE! 2010 Tour. We caught up with the 20-year-old to find out about life on the road, meeting her fans, and the future.

The Cape Cod, Massachusetts native has a big family, and they’ve been able to come out and watch Siobhan on tour a few different times. “They came to the Manfield show. I have a great-aunt and she was my first real groupie. Coming out to the shows was something for her to get excited about, and she brought along her 89-year-old mother-in-law. I’m really excited for the Portland show because my oldest brother will be there.”

MyIdol user Chili1000 was wondering if there was anything about touring that surprised Siobhan. She answered, “We didn’t know what to expect because none of us has done this before. Everybody is so cool – it’s a whole new crew than the one on the show. It was scary at first to meet them all, but they’re really great and it makes it that much more fun to like the people you are with every day.”

As you know from watching Siobhan on Season 9 of American Idol, she can hit the most unbelievable notes. How does she keep her vocal chords from getting tired after performing all-out night after night? “I warm up before and warm down after. We drink lots of ginger and lemon tea and use throat sprays. You end up learning tricks with salt water and take vitamins and we’re getting as much sleep as possible. Most importantly, I try to make sure I don’t get sick. Sometimes it is hard to sleep because of our strange schedule. After a show we get on the bus for three hours, from about midnight to 3am. Then we go into the hotel and try and sleep again, and it takes some time to get acquainted and wind down. We have enough time for sleep, though; more than we got on the show!”

Siobhanfan22 asked the sixth place finalist what her favorite fan gift was and which city has been her favorite. Siobhan said, “My hometown show was my favorite because I got to see everybody. I’ve received a lot of cool things from my fans. At the first stop a young girl gave me a bracelet that says ‘Believe in Miracles.’ It was the nine-year-old’s favorite bracelet, so I told her I couldn’t accept it. She insisted and said it was in support of her best friend who has brain cancer. I wear it on stage every night. I gave her one of my bracelets that says ‘Positivity.’ My two best friends and I have matching ones. It’s amazing to think that I have that impact on someone. Once I talked about how I wanted to make a dress out of Halloween masks and Barbie doll heads. One of my guy fans made me a leather vest with the masks on the outside and Barbie doll head shoulder pads. The inside is lined with t-shirt patches. It’s the coolest clothing I’ve ever had in my entire life. I wear it sometimes when I perform on tour, but it’s very special to me so I don’t wear it all the time so that I won’t ruin it.”

Once the tour is over, Siobhan hopes to find management to get help finding a record deal. “I want to record with my band. We’ve been together for five years, and there’s no reason for me not to continue making music with them. We are comfortable together and we write well together. I want to write all of my own stuff. Of course others will collaborate, but I want a hand in it. I’ve been able to write a little bit while on tour. All of the Idols write their own songs and then we compare them. It’s really cool.”

To the Season 10 hopefuls currently auditioning for American Idol, Siobhan advises, “Keep your eyes open while you sing for the judges. They’ll tear you apart for closing them while you sing. I had a problem with that when I auditioned. They said no one wants to watch someone singing with their eyes closed on TV. Think about that if you can.”

Siobhan has the following message for her fans: “Greetings, earthlings. Thank you for your amazing dedication and support. I wouldn’t be here without you. It means more to me than you will ever know. I’ll try to do my best not to disappoint you.”
