Happy Birthday, David Cook!
Season 7's American Idol, David Cook, turned 27 years old on Sunday. This past year has been a very busy and successful one for the rocker. After winning the title of American Idol in May of 2008, David toured across the country with his fellow finalists on the American Idols LIVE! Tour. Just 13 months ago, he released his self-titled album. David Cook has already been Platinum certified by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album also performed well on the Billboard charts, peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and at No. 2 on the Billboard Top Rock Albums. In the 2009 Year End Charts, David Cook came in at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 and at No. 4 on the Top Rock Albums!
David Cook has set records and won awards in the past year and a half. Following David's Season 7 win, he broke many Billboard chart records and had 11 songs debut on the Hot 100 chart. In 2008, he won the Teen Choice Award for Choice TV: Male Reality/Variety Star and he won the Top 40 Male Artist of the Year prize at The New Music Awards. In 2009, David won a Nashville Music Award for Song of the Year with his Idol coronation song, "Time of My Life."
During the past year, David has toured all over the country to perform concerts for colleges and arenas of fans. Season 4's American Idol, Carrie Underwood, invited him to sing on her All-Star Holiday Special. View photos of David performing on the show, here.
How did David celebrate his 27th birthday? By doing what he loves, singing! The Kansas City boy sang The National Anthem at the Kansas City Chiefs game in front of a stadium of fans and cameras.
