Fantasia’s New Show
American Idol's Season 3 winner, Fantasia, has had a life full of high notes and low notes and she will be sharing it all with her fans in the upcoming docu-series "Fantasia for Real."
"Fantasia for Real" is scheduled to premiere on January 11, 2010, and the series will provide viewers with a close-up view into the complex, touching, and relatable life of the American Idol winner. The show will give us all a glimpse of how Fantasia manages to juggle her career and being a single mother, and on top of it all she's working on her highly anticipated third album.
Just six years ago, Fantasia was a young single mother from High Point, North Carolina. The church choir singer decided to try out for American idol on a whim, and America fell in love with her voice. Now, with 8 Grammy Award nominations under her belt, Fantasia's life has changed dramatically. Fantasia's debut album, Free Yourself, went platinum and had success on the charts. In 2006, Fantasia gave an initial glimpse at her rocky life through her autobiography Life Is Not a Fairy Tale, which later was turned into a TV movie. Over the past several years, Fantasia found success starring as Celie in the Broadway musical The Color Purple. Oprah Winfrey cast Fantasia to play Celie in the film adaptation of The Color Purple, which is scheduled to being production after the completion of Fantasia's third album.
Television executive Jeff Olde said, "Fantasia has engaged millions of fans not only through her music and her amazing talent but also by her incredible fairytale life story. Our audience helped Fantasia become an American Idol and now, with this series, they get a backstage pass into her real life as she confronts obstacles to realize her true potential as an artist, a mother, a daughter and a sister."
