Happy Birthday, Ace Young!
Season 5 finalist Ace Young has done a variety of work in entertainment since his time on American Idol. On October 20, 2006, he released his first single "Scattered," a digital download. In 2008, Ace released his self-titled CD which included the hit "Addicted." The song charted on the Billboard Pop 100, where it peaked at #77. Ace co-wrote seven of the eleven tracks on the album.
Ace received a Grammy Award nomination in 2007 for "Best Rock Song" because of his songwriting credit on Daughtry's debut album for "It's Not Over." Ace and Chris Daughtry met during Season 5 auditions in Denver and were roommates on the show. They instantly became best friends.
Ace and his fans started a fan-based charity project, Highrollers with Heart. The project raised money in Ace's name for the new Family Hospitality suite at The Children's Hospital in Denver, Colorado. In January 2008, Ace was named a Celebrity Ambassador for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). He assists the charity with events and raising awareness for neuromuscular diseases. Ace performed on the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon August 31 and September 1, 2009 live from Las Vegas. He also co-hosted several segments of the live television broadcast.
On May 12, 2008 Ace appeared on FOX's hit TV show Bones alongside season six American Idol Contestant Brandon Rogers. He played the part of a karaoke singer who sang Nickelback's "Far Away" before his character was murdered.
Ace recently made his Broadway debut as Kenickie in the revival of Grease from September 9, 2008 to January 4, 2009. During Season 8 of American Idol, Ace co-hosted American Idol Extra. In addition, he blogged for MyIdol and recapped the season's shows. As the co-host of Idol Extra, Ace got to hangout with Bo Bice and David Cook on their tours. Watch his interviews.
