A press conference was held yesterday to announce the nominees for the 2009 American Music Awards. Season 4's American Idol, Carrie Underwood, received a nomination for "Favorite Female Artist" in the Country genre, and Daughtry was nominated for "Favorite Artist" in the Adult Contemporary category. Carrie and Daughtry are no strangers to the AMAs. In 2008, Daughtry won for "Favorite Band, Duo, or Group" in the Pop/Rock category, and Carrie won for "Favorite Album" in the Pop/Rock category for Carnival Ride. Both Carrie and Daughtry won three AMAs each in 2007, and Carrie also brought home an award for "Favorite New Breakthrough Artist" in 2006. Other past Idols who have won AMAs include "Favorite Artist" Jordin Sparks in 2008, and Kelly Clarkson, who received four awards in 2005 and 2006.

Adam Lambert announced yesterday on Ryan Seacrest's morning radio show that he will be performing at The 37th Annual American Music Awards. The song that Adam will perform is his first single off his untitled debut album. Adam couldn't reveal much about the song, but he did admit it's different from his 2012 tune "Time for Miracles," saying his debut single will have a "glammy" feel to it. Ever the performer, Adam told Ryan that he hopes his AMA performance involves dancers, costumes, and fire. Would you expect anything less?!

The awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE, home of the past few American Idol finales, on November 22. Good luck Carrie Underwood, Daughtry, and Adam Lambert!
