Jordin Sparks, the Season 6 American Idol, released her sophomore album, Battlefield, today. Following Jordin's 2007 victory, she released her debut album, Jordin Sparks, which included four top twenty singles and was certified Platinum on December 12, 2008. Jordin is proud of her sophomore album and had more time to work on it than her debut album. As a result, she was able to write more songs this time out, four of which made the album and two others are being used as promotional tracks. Jordin worked on nearly 40 tracks for the album, which they narrowed down to 12 songs. The album's hit single, "Battlefield," is #30 on the Billboard Hot 100, and Jordin performed it on a Season 8 results show.

Writers and producers on the album include OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder, StarGate, T-Pain, and Dr. Luke, and the set also includes a cover of Fefe Dobson's "Don't Let It Go To Your Head." Jordin admits that "Battlefield" shows growth and maturity, as well as a step in the dance direction with "S.O.S. (Let the Music Play)," which samples the Shannon hit. Currently on tour with the Jonas Brothers, Jordin loves the opportunity to get in front of their audience.
