New Daughtry CD Available Now
Daughtry's new album, Leave This Town, was released today and is available for purchase online and in stores. Leave This Town is the second album from the band that is fronted by American Idol Season 5 finalist Chris Daughtry. The album is made up of 12 rock songs that stay true to the Daughtry sound and have honest lyrics. Howard Benson, who produced Daughtry's 2006 five-times-platinum album, was the producer on Leave This Town. Nickleback's Chad Kroeger and Evanescence founder Ben Moody (who is now part of We Are The Fallen with Season 7 Idol finalist Carly Smithson) collaborated with Daughtry to write some of the songs, and Vince Gill makes a guest appearance on the track "Tennessee Line." You can purchase exclusive versions of the album with bonus tracks from iTunes, Target, Wal-Mart, and on the Daughtry website.
The band's self-titled debut album was extremely successful. Daughtry is the fastest selling debut rock album in Soundscan history. Chris Daughtry is the first American Idol artist to stay in the Billboard Top 100 for 116 weeks and has the only debut album in the history of Soundscan to have stayed in the top 200 for 136 weeks. In 2007, "It's Not Over" was nominated for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for the 50th Annual Grammy Awards.
During Season 8's Rock Week results show, Daughtry debuted their first single off Leave This Town, called "No Surprise." After their performance, they were presented with a framed record for having sold over 5 million copies of their first album. See pictures from the performance, here.
Daughtry is touring around the U.S. this August. View the tour schedule.
