Anthony Fedorov and Diana DeGarmo Star in "Joseph"
Season 4 finalist Anthony Fedorov and Season 3 runner-up Diana DeGarmo will star in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." The musical will run for part of Lyric Theatre's 2009 summer season. Lyric Theatre is Oklahoma's premiere regional theatre company, located in Oklahoma City. Anthony will star as Joseph and Diana will be the Narrator in Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical. The show will run from Tuesday, July 21st through Saturday, July 25th.
Both Anthony and Diana have experience with musical theater. Anthony starred in the off-Broadway production of "The Fantasticks," in addition to his career as a recording artist and performer. Lyric Theatre's Artistic Director, Nick Corley, had met Anthony before, and immediately saw him as the perfect person to play Joseph. Nick decided that the only thing better than one American Idol star in the show would be to have two. Nick knew about Diana's successes in musical theater, so he contacted her to play the Narrator, who weaves the story together and tells Joseph's remarkable story. After coming in second place on American Idol, Diana performed in the Broadway production of "Hairspray" and the national tour of "Brooklyn: The Musical." When Diana was growing up in Georgia, she performed in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and has been anxiously awaiting an opportunity to play the Narrator as an adult.
Lyric Theatre is also including 80 young performers between the ages of 7 and 16 to participate in the show. The children will participate in Lyric Academy's "Camp Joseph" program for three weeks of training.
"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, who was a mentor and a guest on the American Idol stage during Season 7, and Tim Rice. The musical is based on the story of Joseph from the Bible's Book of Genesis.
Tickets to Lyric's production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" start at only $28.
