Paula said it best after learning that Scott MacIntyre would be leaving the competition when she said, "On behalf of the judges I just want to say that you've been an inspiration to the entire world through your commitment, through your talent." As American Idol's first visually impaired finalist, Scott inspired America each week with his vocals and musicianship. Not only did Scott make an impact on the show, but the show impacted Scott who said in a post-elimination interview, "I've also learned that anything is possible. I never dreamed that I would be in the top eight of American Idol when I was following the show a couple years ago and now here I am. It's an amazing opportunity and the experiences I've had over the last couple weeks will never be duplicated again."

Scott MacIntyre tried out for American Idol for the first time ever this season in order to share his story and his voice with the country. After receiving a masters degree in music in Simon's native land of England, Scott realized now was a perfect crossroads in his life to audition for American Idol in his home state, Arizona. As a self-proclaimed "Academic-Gone-Popstar," Scott wrote about one original song a week while studying in London and says his songs are "very much along the lines of John Mayer, Gavin DeGraw, Bruce Hornsby, Vanessa Carlton, a little bit of Mark Schultz. It's very pop rock singer songwriter meets adult contemporary." All of his songs are introspective with lyrics that mean something to him, but they are also radio friendly and include catchy hooks.

When asked if he had any regrets, Scott said he did not and he stands by every performance of his. He also does not regret the risk of bringing out the "shredder" to perform a song from the year he was born and says it helped him "go out in a blaze of glory." The judges were torn when deciding whether or not to use the save on Scott, and knowing that the judges were split down the middle has helped Scott walk away with his head held high.

Scott is looking forward to the Idol tour this summer. "I've been dreaming about going on tour and playing show after show every night since I was a little kid and there's something magical about being on stage with that many people in the audience," Scott said. Between now and the tour, Scott plans on revisiting his original songs he wrote and hopes to compile them into the best album he can possibly make for any deals that may come his way. He also looks forward to meeting his fans that have supported him on this journey.
