Catch the Idol Tonight Premiere
Idol Tonight, TV Guide Network's exclusive live pre-show for America's top-rated TV sensation, has been greenlit for a fourth season. The network has also brought back its two popular co-hosts Kimberly Caldwell and Justin Guarini, who will gear-up fans each week right from the doorstep of American Idol. Idol Tonight will premiere tonight at 8/7c with special guest Taylor Hicks, who just released a new album yesterday, including a new single, "What's Right Is Right". New Idol Tonight episodes will air Wednesdays at 8/7c through the duration of the Idol season.
"Idol Tonight is TV Guide Network's highest-rated original series, and with each new season of 'American Idol,' fans know they can tune-in to our pre-show for an hour packed with live interviews, fan reaction and other exclusive content," said Matthew Singerman, Senior Vice President, Programming and Production, TV Guide Network. "Similar in spirit to a tailgate party, Idol Tonight gets fans excited for the main event in a TV celebration dedicated to the most popular show on television."
Idol Tonight is the only "show before the show," and is telecast in front of a live studio audience. Each week, co-hosts Kimberly Caldwell and Justin Guarini provide fans with interviews with the most recent eliminated contestant, vocal coaches, fashion stylists and other insiders. The show also includes regular segments such as "Idol Flashbacks," featuring never-before-seen footage of the most outrageous auditions and former contestants; "Idol Worship," highlighting current contestant reactions to fun fan questions; and "Where Are They Now?," featuring former contestants as they discuss their careers and lives after American Idol.
In addition to Taylor Hicks, tonight's premiere episode will include Amanda Overmyer, Phil Stacey, and guest host Brandon Rogers. These AI alums will not only be able to comment on this season thus far, but all of the amazing things that are going on in their lives. With no outside writers or co-writers, Amanda developed her album, Solidify, in a stunning nine days. With her band in tow, she is making her way across the nation to give her fans a taste of her post-Idol work. Phil Stacey, who recently crossed over into the Gospel/Christian music realm, just announced 15 new tour dates with fellow AI alum Melinda Doolittle! Tonight's guest co-host, Brandon Rogers, released his first single, "Broken," in August.
