Those who became fans of Lindsey Cardinale's raspy voice and the soulful music ballads she chose to sing during season four might be surprised to know that she is actually a country music singer. In fact, this past fall she signed with Aria Records in Nashville and is currently working on her debut album with Grammy Award-winning record producer Paul Jackson. She has put out a maxi single that features the songs "Drive" and "Nothin' Like a Dream." A 19-year-old Lindsey auditioned for "Idol" in New Orleans by singing Karla Bonoff's "Standing Right Next to Me." She got all the way to the Top 12 before being voted off the show. Interestingly enough, Lindsey formed a bond with another southern gal on the show that season, Carrie Underwood, and they still maintain that friendship to this day.

As she states on her Myspace page, American Idol really helps you to prepare for the rigors of a music career. "I definitely learned a lot on 'American Idol,' not only about professionalism and going onstage, but I also learned that this business isn't always a walk in the park," Lindsey says. "It's hard work and long days, and I'm really glad that I had that experience, It made me stronger." The people at Aria are also confident that she will be successful. "Lindsey Cardinale is an amazing artist, and one of the strongest, most compelling female vocalists I've ever heard," says Aria Records President Barbara Farkas. "She's also an important addition to the Aria Records family of artists, and we couldn't be more proud and excited." Lindsey has already recorded a moving duet called "Let it Rain" with another Aria artist, Stephen Cochran.

A fun tidbit about Lindsey--in addition to singing, she also plays guitar, piano, drums, and the fiddle.

Happy Birthday to Lindsey who was born February 5, 1985!
