Chicken Soup for the American Idol Soul
If you're looking for a little inspiration in your life, you'll be excited to hear about a new book that's available in stores now called "Chicken Soup for the American Idol Soul." As Amazon.com describes it, "Chicken Soup for the American Idol Soul is the perfect marriage of the #1 show in television history and the #1 non-fiction book series in publishing history both dedicated to celebrating the triumph of spirit over adversity, the fulfillment of dreams coming true, and the power of love." "Idol" fans will also be thrilled to know that there are personal accounts from people like Carrie Underwood, Clay Aiken, Ruben Studdard, Jordin Sparks, Melinda Doolittle, Blake Lewis, Sanjaya Malakar, and many other Idols and AI fans.
Clay Aiken describes an enlightening event he experienced while signing autographs one day after a show. According to Clay, a "very petite and pretty girl" approached him and told him what an impact his video for "Invisible" had made on her life. Clay thought she had to have been mistaken, as this particular video featured him singing on Hollywood Boulevard surrounded by people cheering. It was, he thought, without meaning or inspiration. This girl begged to differ with him, however, as she said that, at the time, she weighed 200 pounds. When she saw him put his arm around an overweight girl in the video and appear to accept her just the way she was, her entire life shifted. As Clay explains, "I've always tried to remember that people are looking at what I say and do to find out what's valuable and important to me, and I've always tried to set the right example. But that day I realized that I can't know all the ways my actions may impact someone. I couldn't have imagined that video would have affected anyone in any kind of positive way, but, lo and behold, it had."
Written by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen and co-author Debra Poneman, with a foreword by our lovable judge Paula Abdul, this book will surely warm the hearts of "American Idol" fans everywhere.
