AMERICAN IDOL® Alumni Nominated For 8 Grammy Awards

On Friday, December 6, 2013, the nominations for the 56th Annual Grammy Awards were announced, and an impressive eight nominations went to three AMERICAN IDOL® alumni and one IDOL™ judge.

And the IDOL™ nominees are…

Best Traditional R&B Performance
"Get It Right" by Fantasia

Best R&B Song
"Without Me" by Fantasia feat. Kelly Rowland and Missy Elliot

Best Urban Contemporary Album
Fantasia - Side Effects of You

Best Country Duo/Group Performance
"Don't Rush" by Kelly Clarkson feat. Vince Gill
"Highway Don't Care" by Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, & Keith Urban

Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance
"Overcomer" by Mandisa

Best Contemporary Christian Music Song
"Overcomer" by Mandisa

Best Contemporary Christian Music Album
Overcomer by Mandisa

Honorable Mention:
Producer of the Year, Non-Classical
Pharrell Williams for his work on "I Can't Describe (The Way I Feel)" by Jennifer Hudson Featuring T.I., among other tracks.

This makes Fantasia an 11-time Grammy nominee! She won the award in 2010 for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for “Bittersweet.” Mandisa had received three Grammy nominations previously in her career, and that number has now doubled to six. Will this be her first win? This is also Kelly Clarkson's 11th nomination, and she's won three times before! Keith Urban is no stranger to the award show; he's a four-time Grammy award winner. Keith performed Bill Withers' “Ain't No Sunshine” with Miguel during "The GRAMMY Nominations Live!! — Countdown To Music's Biggest Night" event.

We'll find out who walks away with an award on January 26, 2014.
