Former finalist Colton Dixon will return to perform on the Idol stage this Thursday, in time for IDOL's historic 450th episode!

With eight guys and girls left in the competition, all eyes are on this week's theme: Music From The Motor City. Who is going to head home this week and who is one step closer to being the next AMERICAN IDOL? Only time will tell.

Last night saw the departure of Palmersville, TN native Paul Jolley as he had received the lowest number of votes after his Beatles Week performance of "Eleanor Rigby." On a night that featured appearances from Season 11 runner-up Jessica Sanchez, Ne-Yo and Season 10 finalist Casey Abrams, Paul Jolley was sent home after the judges opted not to use their "save of the season" to keep him in the competition.

Next week, the remaining eight contestants will return as American Idol pays tribute to "The Music of The Motor City." On Wednesday March 27, the Top 8 contestants will perform songs centered on the city of Detroit.

On the next live results show on Thursday March 28th; American Idol will celebrate its 450th episode! To celebrate, former IDOL finalist Colton Dixon will perform live on the IDOL stage.

The Top 9 results show was jam packed full of rockin' performances from our current IDOL contestants and IDOL alumni. 

First the top guys hit the stage performing the Beatles classic, "Got To Get You Into My Life." Next up Season 10's Casey Abrams jazzed out his own version of the Beatles' "I Saw Her Standing There." 

The girls followed up Casey's performance with an intimate rendition of "Here, There and Everywhere." Season 11's Jessica Sanchez then returned to the stage and performed her new single, "Tonight" with pop star Ne-Yo. The single is off her upcoming album, You, Me and the Music which is available for pre-order here.
