Milwaukee - Bradley Center
The Midwestern United States has been a hotbed for American Idol talent in recent seasons including Season 9 stars Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox, Milwaukee's own Danny Gokey, Michigan native Matt Giraud, and Season 7 winner David Cook. And who wouldn't want to live by the beautiful Great Lakes? Milwaukee's location on Lake Michigan has contributed to its diverse economy and culture. Music is huge in Milwaukee with their summer celebration, Summerfest, which is "The World's Largest Music Festival." Summerfest 2010 occurs three weeks before Milwaukee auditions and will even include Idol stars Kellie Pickler, Carrie Underwood, Danny Gokey, and the American Idols LIVE! 2010 Tour.
Transportation
If you plan on jetting to Milwaukee, you will most likely travel to General Mitchell International Airport (MKE), which is only 8.5 miles away from the Bradley Center. You don't have to rent a car; you can always take the Milwaukee County Transit System bus #80 to the downtown area. Milwaukee is less than a two hour drive north of Chicago. If you're coming from Chicago, consider riding Amtrak's Hiawatha service which takes you on a train from Chicago straight to Milwaukee. Stay at one of the 14 hotels within one mile from the Bradley Center for a short walk to auditions.
Sightseeing
Milwaukee is located on the southwestern shore of Lake Michigan, so sail away or take a dinner cruise. Have an educational day at the Milwaukee Country Zoo, Milwaukee Public Museum, and the Milwaukee Art Museum. Your trip to one of the Brewing Capitals of the World wouldn't be complete without touring a brewery and tasting different beers…that is if you're of legal age. If you're looking to extend your trip, check out a Milwaukee Brewers baseball game. The Brewers have home games every day between Friday, July 23 and Wednesday, July 28.
