Jacksonville
Jacksonville, Florida is the Sunshine State's largest metropolis, and is known as much for its cool, calm demeanor as it is for its beautiful stretch of sandy beaches. Located in the northeast corner of Florida, the city has a wealth of shopping and dining options, moderate temperatures year-round and world-class art and culture. Leave behind the rest of the United States and welcome to an enlightened state: Florida!
Transportation
Jacksonville is easily accessible by car from states all over the southeastern U.S. However, if you'd like to fly in, your airport of choice will be the Jacksonville International Airport, which is located approximately 14 miles north of the city center. You may want to rent a car at the airport to get around or, perhaps, public transit is your preferred "green" way of seeing the city. Currently, the Jacksonville Transportation Authority operates a comprehensive Bus Rapid Transit system that serves the entire metropolitan area as well as the Skyway which serves points of interest on both sides of the river. Fares are typically $1 each way and the Downtown and Riverside Trolleys are free!
Sightseeing
With a metropolitan population fast approaching 2 million people, Jacksonville offers an abundance of leisure activities. A diverse and cultured urban core rises up next to the riverfront and reveals its sophistication to all who visit. Whether it's the symphony, world-class shopping and dining or some of the best museums in the world, you'll find it here in Jacksonville. Check out the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra on the riverfront if you fancy classical music, stroll the streets of Downtown for the largest variety of restaurants in the city and don't miss out on the Jacksonville Museum of Modern Art, the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, or the historic Kingsley Plantation.
